If you ever wonder how to get pregnant with twins, or if you have a burning desire to have twins like Mariah Carey or Angelina Jolie did, there are some things you need to take into account before setting out on your journey.

First off, as a mother of two beautiful twin girls, let me just say that having twins is the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Sure it’s difficult sometimes as having twins is both physically and mentally (not to mention financially) demanding, but I can honestly say that the joys outweigh the stress by far! So if you’re planning on having twins, you might find the following paragraphs useful. I’ll share with you some of the steps I had taken that helped me conceive my twin girls. Hope it will help you do the same.

Now the first thing to remember is that the rate of twin births in the United States is only about 1 in 30 babies, so it’s a bit of a longshot. This is also due to the fact that many of these twin births are associated with In Vitro fertilization (IVF) and perhaps other forms of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART). The mother’s age at the time of conception also plays a role, as older women are more likely to produce multiple eggs in a cycle.

Anyway, enough of the statistics, let’s now focus on how I managed to conceive my precious twin girls.

The following are some of the things I believe helped me in boosting my chances of conceiving twins:

• About a month before I tried to conceive, I had taken folic acid supplement. I followed the general recommendation for women planning to conceive.
• When I was pregnant, I made sure that I was going to eat well and be well nourished. I mean I literally ate for three for most of my pregnancy. I figured that gaining weight in a healthy manner was one way of ensuring that my then unborn babies would not suffer nutrition deficiency. I’ll give you my twin diet pattern on my next post.
• Right before trying to get pregnant, I stopped taking birth control pills. This is based on the advice I got from a friend who said that the moment we stop taking the pill, our bodies go into overdrive in an attempt to regulate our hormones and ultimately results in our ovaries releasing multiple eggs.
• One last thing I did was to encourage my partner to eat some oysters. Oysters are known to promote sperm production as they are high in zinc. The healthier your partner’s sperm are, the greater the likelihood of being able to fertilize an egg or two.

So there you have it, the steps I took in upping my chances of getting pregnant with twins. Now I don’t claim that the method I just pointed out in this article will work for anyone, but hey, there’s no harm in trying. Good luck!
