Chances of Getting Pregnant from Precum

Chances of Getting Pregnant from Precum

Precum (medical term: pre-ejaculation fluid) is a source of uncertainty and confusion for teens and adults alike. This is because there has been some debate regarding whether or not precum can lead to pregnancy, and a definitive, yes-or-no answer simply does not exist.

Precum is essentially a clear liquid that is discharged by the penis when a guy is having an erection or is sexually aroused. It’s generally considered to be sperm-free and is incapable of causing pregnancy. However, under certain circumstances, precum can contain sperm and may eventually lead to pregnancy (unwanted or otherwise).

If a man had previously ejaculated and hasn’t since urinated, there’s a chance that residual sperm might be left behind from the previous ejaculation. And if said individual were to have unprotected sex, that small amount of sperm might be enough to cause pregnancy (although the chances are pretty low).

So essentially, yes, under certain circumstances precum can cause pregnancy. The chances of that happening though, are somewhat slim. However, if you’re really not planning on getting pregnant (or get someone else pregnant), why risk it? It would be so much more reassuring to just put on a condom and remove the possibility of unwanted pregnancy altogether. What’s more, condoms can also protect you from certain types of STDs.

It’s worth noting that a new study has revealed that there are guys who always had sperm in his precum as well as guys who never had sperm in their precum. This means practicing safe and protected sex is imperative if you’re not planning on having children just yet.

Remember, if the guy you’re having sex with has sperm loaded precum, he doesn’t really need to ejaculate to impregnate you. Sperm needs only to be discharged at the vaginal opening for pregnancy to become possible, and since there’s no way to tell if a guy has sperm in his precum, wouldn’t it be prudent to just have him wear a condom and be on the safe side?
